Zottegem is a Belgian city in the Denderstreek in the Flanders region. It is located in the province of East Flanders and has 25,398 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2012). The municipality has a total of eleven sub communities, Elene, Erwetegem, Godveerdegem, Grotenberge, Leeuwergem, Oombergen, Sint- Goriks - Oudenhove, Sint -Maria- Oudenhove, Strijpen, Velzeke - Ruddershove and Zottegem.
The Molenbeek runs through Grotenberge and Leeuwergem and Molenbeek- Ter Erpenbeek runs through Godveerdegem, Erwetegem and Grotenberge.
Location
Geraardsbergen located 11 kilometers south, 14 km west of Oudenaarde, Aalst 16 km northeast, 19 km northwest of Ghent and Brussels 48 km east.
Traffic
In the North and Northeast are located in Wetteren and Erpe -Mere highway exits off the A10 / E 40 Zottegem has a regional station at the intersection of railway lines Kortrijk - Oudenaarde - Zottegem - Denderleeuw - Brussels and Geraardsbergen - Zottegem - Ghent. In Ghent and Brussels also keep on regional express trains such as Thalys. Near the capital Brussels there is an international airport.
