Zschorlau

Zschorlau is a municipality in the Erzgebirge District in Saxony. Zschorlau and the neighboring community Bockau form an administrative community.

Geography

Zschorlau is nestled in the rolling hills of the Western Ore Mountains about 5 km south of Aue and in the south by Steinberg ( 732.8 m ) dominates. The place is, as many former Waldhufen villages in the Ore Mountains, at a creek, the Zschorlaubach arisen. This arises southwest of the community atop a wide marshy plateau, which is called " Dr Forst" or High Forest in the vernacular. Before the river reaches the local situation, he dines with his water the Filzteich, which is a popular recreational area. At the end of the local situation follows the basic Goessnitz a narrow valley, the valley road was built by the Zschorlauer until 1907.

Geology

The municipality is situated on the south- eastern flank of the " Schneeberger deposit" which extends to the edge of the village. Externally does this through the winding tower of the door shaft felt that behind the houses is only a few meters on a hill between Zschorlau and Neustädtel. This tower is the only surviving steel headframe of westerzgebirgischen old mining and is a listed building.

A special feature is the area of the exhibition mine St. Anna am Freudenstein. It belongs geologically to Schneeberger deposit, but is to be regarded as a separate part of the deposit.

In addition, the discovered in the town hall and degraded Wolframitvorkommen are an interesting geological phenomenon.

History

The place Zschorlau as the neighboring towns Neustädtel, Griesbach and Lindenau founded in 1200. He was, unlike its districts, not to rule Schwarzenberg, but to rule Wiesenburg and dessem successor, the Office Wiesenburg. In Zschorlauer district Albernau there since the 17th century, a blue color work that ultramarine after its first owner Schindler and the generated blue color also U.S. Saxon blue colors GmbH is called ( Schindler Factory No. 9). After the Nazi seizure of power an old factory building in the Silly Straße 2 of the local Nazis was converted into a " prison camp " from April to July 1933. There were 207 political opponents, including a Jew, imprisoned and tortured. Among the prisoners was one known by name Paul Bin. Numerous Abused died shortly afterwards at the suffered torture. After the dissolution of the camp, the prisoners were transferred to the penitentiary Zwickau- Osterstein and in the Sachsenhausen concentration castle. A plaque commemorates the victims.

On 1 January 1996 Burkhardtsgruen was incorporated on 1 January 1998 after Albernau Zschorlau.

The Zschorlauer council comprises 16 seats. Of this total, 13 seats on the CDU parliamentary group, a seat on the SPD, a seat on the FDP and a seat on the folly Auer alternative. The last municipal election in Saxony took place on June 7, 2009.

Culture and sights

The Mine St. Anna am Freudenstein is at the lower end of the village Zschorlau on the connecting road to Aue. In the local quartz cave in summer shows a traveling puppet theater performances and during the Christmas season public Mette layers are organized.
