Zsigmond Szathmáry

Zsigmond Szathmáry ( born April 28, 1939 in Hódmezővásárhely, Hungary) is a Hungarian organist, pianist, composer and conductor.

Szathmáry studied organ and composition in Budapest, Frankfurt and Vienna. He won the 1960 first prize at the Budapest Organ Competition. After organist activity in Hamburg ( among others Wellingsbüttel ) and at the Bremen Cathedral, as well as teaching in Lübeck and Hanover, he became in 1978 professor of organ at the University of Music in Freiburg im Breisgau. He is also a visiting professor at Osaka.
