Zsolt Baranyai

Zsolt Baranyai ( born June 23, 1948 in Budapest, † 18 April 1978 ) was a Hungarian mathematician who dealt with combinatorics.

Baranyai went as a classmate of László Lovász, Miklós Laczkovich and Lajos Fazekas Pósa to the high school in Budapest. 1967 and 1972 he studied at the Eotvos Lorand University, where he received his doctorate in 1975. In 1978, he posthumously received a PhD degree ( candidates title) of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.

He was also recorder player at a professional level and toured in Hungary with the Barkfart Konsort. On the way back from a concert he died in a car accident on a country road.

He is known for his theorem on the decomposition of complete hypergraphs ..
