Zuccotto

Zuccotto is an Italian dessert, has the similarity with Zuppa inglese, cassata and tiramisu.

Zuccotto is produced in a domed shape, which is lined with sponge cake or ladyfingers soaked with rum or other high-proof alcohol. Then comes a thick layer of whipped cream, sometimes flavored with vanilla or chocolate, candied fruit, nuts or chestnuts, concluding with another layer of sponge cake. Alternatively, sometimes ricotta is used instead of cream. After the dessert was strongly cooled in a freezer, it can be served overthrown and cut into slices.
