Zugló is the name of the 14th district in Budapest. The old German name Lerch field is no longer used. The district lies to the east of the city center on the Pest side.

Location and data

The 14th district is located in the inner part of the city. To the north is the 4th District in the northwest of the 13th district and northeast of the 15th district. The eastern neighbor is the 16th district. To the southeast is the 10th district and south of the 8th district. Zugló bordered on the southwest by the 6th and 7th district. The district boundaries run along the line Dózsa György út - Vágány utca - Rákosrendező palyaudvar ( " Station Rákosrendező " ) - Rákosszentmihályi körvasút ( " Ringbahn Rákosszentmihály " ) - Kerepesi út.

History

On the site of today's Zugló there was the historic Rakos mezeje ( " Rákosfeld "). In the Middle Ages it was an uninhabited wooded swamps. There, the Hungarian National meetings were held 1286-1540.
