For Stangl host is a German television series that was produced from 1993 to 1997 and aired on RTL. The book comes from Ulla Kling. It was directed by Peter Steiner in the form of a sitcom in the German tradition of the comedy.

Background

After the commercial success of the Theaterstadl the Bavarian People's Theatre was established as a program format. RTL was looking for a sequel, since one end of the repertoire was foreseeable and new pieces could not be produced in the required short time.

The most successful role stereotypes of Theaterstadl pieces ( Peter Steiner Sen. as would-be patriarch, Gerda Steiner Palzer as stupid assistant, etc.) were therefore in the transmission format of the sitcom (episodes under 30 minutes net time), Compact issues combined with longer storylines, the ensemble with guest appearances, taken live audience. The film was shot exclusively in a fixed studio setting, but several rooms ( dining room, kitchen, corridor, butcher shop, beer garden) included.
