Župčany

Župčany ( until 1927 slovak " Žubčany "; Hungarian Zsebefalva ) is a municipality in eastern Slovakia with 1,355 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2011), the Region belongs to Okres Prešov, Prešov of a circle and is counted to the traditional landscape Saris.

Geography

The municipality is located in the mountains Šarišská highlands in the headwaters of the creek Šarišský creek. The center is located at an altitude of 315 m nm, seven kilometers west of Prešov.

History

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1248 and was, until the end of the 14th century part of the dominions of the castle damage Rosch, then he belonged to various landowners ( until 1884 ). 1828 are listed 68 houses and 511 inhabitants.
