Züri West

Zürich West is one of the most successful Swiss rock band from Bern. The name of Zürich West is intended as a ( ironic ) description of Bern - the German city that the largest Swiss city of Zurich lies to the west.

Band History

Kuno Lauener, Sam Mumenthaler Küse Fehlmann and Peter Schmid occurred in 1984 for the first time together as Sweet Home pajamas and a few weeks later as Gianni Pannini on. On February 9, 1984, this set up with Peter von Siebenthal the band Zürich West. In 1985, the band released on the maxi-single Splendid a concert recording. With songs like Flachgleit and jack the band provided the soundtrack to the youth riots around the Zaffaraya - area and the cultural-political struggle for the cultural indoor arena in Bern. In 1987, the first album sports & music.

Already with the second album Bümplizstrasse -Casablanca (1989 ), the band managed to place one of the Swiss charts. The album Elvis (1990 ) was awarded a gold record for 25,000 copies sold. Appeared on 1991 album Arturo Bandini and was also successful. With the live album Winter tour, the band looked back on their development from the political scene tape on the national pop size.

Gert Stäuble solved in the subsequent break from Silvio Silfverberg on drums. The song I schänke dr mis Härz from the studio album Zuri West ( 1994) became the biggest hit of the band so far. By produced in the United States Album Hoover Jam (1996 ) tried to distance the band from the image of the hit band. After a pause, the album was released Super 8 (1999).

In the following two years, guitarist Peter von Siebenthal and bassist Martin Gerber left the band. They were replaced by Tom Etter (guitar), Jürg Schmid Hauser ( bass) and Oli Kuster (keys). In the title song of the album Radio fortunately (2001), the band criticizes the music program of Radio DRS 3 The film " Zuri West - on Blues vorus ... ", which was released in 2002, deal with the development of radio to happiness.

With the sampler returns Zürich West celebrated the beginning of 2004 its twentieth anniversary. In June 2004, the commercial again very successful studio album Aloha from Zürich West appeared.

The studio album Haubi songs appeared on 12 January 2008.

On March 14, 2009 Zürich West played the 110th birthday of the football club BSC Young Boys under the pseudonym of the Häberlis (inspired by striker legend Thomas Häberli ) before over 25,000 spectators at the Stade de Suisse in Bern.

The album Home record was released on 23 April 2010. It is all about B-sides and demos of popular songs.

The single Gothenburg appeared in January 2012, the eponymous album on 23 March 2012. Titled debut album, in April 2012, 1st place in the Swiss charts.
