Zurich ( West Frisian SURCH ) is a district of the municipality Súdwest - Fryslân in the Dutch province of Friesland. The place was one of 2011, around 170 inhabitants.

Place

Zurich was the end of 2010 a part of the community Wonseradeel, which merged in the newly formed community Súdwest Fryslân. The small town is located right on the dike that protects the village from the waters of the southern Wadden Sea. Remarkable are the church and the only restaurant in town. Some visitors of this town are tourists from Switzerland, as the place name Zurich is reminiscent of the city of Zurich.

Zurich is located near the northeast driveway to the so-called Afsluitdike which forecloses the IJsselmeer to the North Sea back and can be navigated by cars on a highway, as well as bicycles. The most popular place is near Makkum, about 7 km south. Also not far away in the north of the port city of Zurich Harlingen with the ferry port to the North Sea islands Vlieland and Terschelling.
