Zürich thaler

The Zurich Taler was until 1798, when it was replaced by the Franks of the Helvetic Republic, the currency of Zurich. It was divided into 2 Gulden, each of which was 36 shillings value. A shilling consisted of 4 cents or 12 Haller. 11 Taler corresponded to a Cologne mark.

Taler, Doppeltaler and half dollars were first minted in Zurich in the 16th century. The oldest known coin is a guilders from the year 1512.

In the late 18th century silver coins were minted in the value of 5 and 20 shillings, ½ and 1 Taler.
