Zurow

Zurow is a municipality in the eastern part of the district of North West in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Neukloster - Warin based in the city of New Monastery.

Originally Slavic village was applied between two lakes. The name comes from the Slavic word zurowy, the name given to a type of blueberry.

Geography

The municipality is located Zurows in the transition area from the hill country east of Wismar Bay to the extreme northwest of the Sternberg Lake District. The three small lakes surrounded community is about eleven kilometers from the city of Wismar.

History

In the district Nakenstorf was in GDR times a summer camp with bungalow buildings which also French children were able to recover.

Incorporations

Klein Warin was incorporated into Reinstorf on 1 January 1957. The community Reinstorf lost on July 1, 1961, their independence and was annexed by Zurow. Krassow joined them on 1 January 2002.

The flag of the municipality is uniform and transverse to the longitudinal axis of the flag cloth of green and gold ( yellow) striped. Economy and infrastructure

After the closure of the Affiliated elementary and secondary school, and later elementary school, Zurow today still has a daycare. Two farms cultivate the useful area of ​​the environment. Furthermore, there is in Zurow a civil engineering operation and building materials processing, in the district Reinstorf a cider mill, and in the district of Klein Warin operated a carpentry. At the federal highway 192 an industrial park was built. The location at the motorway junction 20 with direct Zurow is connected to the national road network. Zurow is the starting point of the federal highway 192 to Neubrandenburg. The nearest train stations are in Hornstorf and Wismar.
