Züsch

Züsch is a municipality in the Trier -Saar castle in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Hermes wedge. Züsch is a nationally recognized resort.

Geography

The village lies on the border of Saarland in Saar- Hunsrück.

To Züsch includes the residential places Birkenau, high Waldhof, Retz height and Rosenhof.

Neighboring towns are Neuhütten, Damflos, Hermes wedge, Nonnweiler and Muhl.

History

The place was first mentioned around 1222.

With Züscher fief or rule Züsch a territory has been designated, containing about 6,000 acres of forest and farmland and belonged to the later of Züscher hammer, the melting mill and Neuhütten, smelters, Zinsershütten and Damflosserhütten.

The Züscher fief was a sponheimisches fief, so first, the bailiffs and Nikolaus Johann Hunolstein were mortgaged in 1256. In the 18th century, the domination Züsch came into the possession of the Barons of Dürckheim, which in 1780 gave the Margrave of Baden.

The coat of arms description reads: "In a divided shield above in green two diagonally crossed silver axes about a stylized golden flower; below in gold increased red bar over three (2:1) red square stones ".

The axes in the upper half point to the former Walloon forest workers' settlement in Züsch. The flower symbolizes the beauty of the landscape. The lower half indicates the former belonging to the reign Züsch, the colors and beams and stones are taken from the coat of arms of the Reeves Hunolstein.

  • In Züsch the oldest Protestant church is in the district of Trier -Saar castle. It dates from the year 1837. The Evangelical church has its roots in the second half of the 16th century. The organ is one of two Spanish organs in Germany.
