Zvi Mazel

Zvi Mazel ( born March 4, 1939) is a retired Israeli diplomat.

He previously worked at the embassies in Antananarivo, Paris and Cairo, and was Israel's ambassador to Romania, and from 1996 to 2001 in Egypt. Since the year 2002, he was ambassador to Sweden. Mazel is now retired and lives in Jerusalem.

He appeared a few times in the news. Once he said, the Swedish Archbishop KG Hammar was " apparently anti-Semite " and he also said the criticism of the then Foreign Minister Anna Lindh in Israel's violation of international law can not be tolerated. He also alleged that there are in Sweden every day " incitement in the media to kill Jews."

International best known he was in January 2004 for his attack on the artwork Snow White and the Madness of Truth. The artwork was part of the exhibition Making Differences. Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon said later that he supported Zvi Mazels doing
