Zvotoky

Zvotoky ( German Swotok ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. You more than twelve kilometers southwest of Strakonice in South Bohemia and belongs to Okres Strakonice.

Geography

Zvotoky located in the foothills of the Bohemian Forest. The village is located on the right side of the creek Novosedelský creek, which is also called Kolčava, Potok in a boiler at the confluence of three smaller streams to Zvotocký. To the north rises the Tyterec (620 m ) in the east of Mladotický vrch (703 m) and the Hurka ( 676 m ) south of the Hora (610 m ) and Hurka (626 m ) in the west of Bloudím ( 685 m) and the Na Mštětíně (714 m) and northwest of the Dubovec (646 m).

Neighboring towns are Ohrazenice and Tazovice in the north, Skalice, Dřetiny, Milčice and Kraselov in the northeast, Mladotice, Škrobočov and Zahorčice in the east, Jetišov, Hodějov and Němčice the southeast, Hoslovice, Smítka and Nová Ves in the south, Prachař and Strašice the southwest, Předměstí, Soběšice and Bukovník in the west and Mačice, Vojnice and Skudra in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village took place on October 18, 1045 in a deed Duke Břetislavs I. to the Abbey of Breunau. Between the 14th and 15th centuries Zvotoky was among the possessions of the rule Winterberg. Later, the village between the dominions Strakonitz and Wolin, and the estate was divided Dobrz. Over time, yet there was a further division, so that Zvotoky was ultimately divided between four landlords.

In 1840 Swotok or Swobotok / Zwotok consisted of 44 houses with 260 inhabitants. Of these 15 were houses to rule Strakonitz, 14 to rule Wolin, eight for Good Niemtschitz and seven for Good Wolenitz. Vicarage was Wolenitz. Until the mid- 19th century the village was always divided between four gentlemen. Residents living from agriculture, but remained low yields because of the stony fields.

After the abolition of patrimonial Zvokotoky / Swotok was pooled and made ​​1850 a district of the municipality Skudra in the District Commission and the Court of District Strakonice. Since the beginning of the 20th century Zvotoky is used as the official place name. In the year 1909, Zvotoky broke loose from Skudra and formed its own community. 1920 a school was set up in 1928 a private school was inaugurated. The granite quarry at Tyterec, was recovered in the high-quality blue granite, formed for a number of inhabitants, the source of livelihood. 1964, the village was again incorporated to Skudra and on 1 April 1976 this together after Strašice. After a referendum Zvotoky broke on November 24 again in 1990 by Strašice off and formed its own community. 18 houses in the village are now used as holiday homes.
