Zvuki Mu

Swuki Mu (Russian Звуки Му, English transcription Zvuki Mu ) was in the 1980s and 1990s avant-garde rock band from Russia and in the subsequent period actually the solo project of bandleader Pyotr Mamonov. The name translates sounds of Mu, where the meaning of Mu remains: as an abbreviation for music, the streets of Moscow (Russian Moskowskije ulizy ) or According to the cows moo.

History

Founded in 1981, Swuki Mu achieved particularly by the eccentric stage shows by Pyotr Mamonov and his absurd texts quickly cult status, especially in the intellectual scene. The first albums first appeared on audio cassettes and were not published until later than CDs. Awareness of the group in the public grew abruptly with the appearance of the album Prostyje weschtschi ( " Simple Things" ) in 1988 and television appearances during this period. Combined with simple sound structures and synth sounds, this music was not typical of the Soviet rock music of the 1980s. It is regarded as an influential pioneer of many contemporary Russian bands.
