Zygfryd Szołtysik

Zygfryd Szołtysik ( born October 24, 1942 in Dry Mountain, County Bytom - Tarnowitz, German Reich ) is a former Polish football player.

Club career

The 1.62 m measured midfielder Zygfryd Szołtysik spent most of his professional career at the Polish Gornik Zabrze record champions. With the club he won several Polish league and cup victories. In 1970, he was with Gornik Zabrze in the Cup Winners' Cup Final, but lost Manchester City 1:2. His first move abroad (U.S. Valenciennes in France) was not particularly successful and he returned after just one season back to Gornik Zabrze. Here he spent another three successful seasons before moving to second division Górnik Knurów 1978. In 1984 he ended his professional career. From 1986 to 1990 he played again as an amateur at SC Eintracht Hamm and SVA Bockum- Hovel.

National

Szołtysik played from 1963 to 1972 a total of 46 times for Poland, scoring 10 goals. His greatest achievement was the gold medal at the 1972 Olympics in Munich. Shortly after the Olympics, he finished his international career.
