11P/Tempel–Swift–LINEAR

11P/Tempel-Swift-LINEAR is a periodic comet of the Jupiter family. The orbit of the comet passes between the Earth and Saturn with an orbital period of 6,372 years.

Discovery history

Ernst Wilhelm Leberecht temple discovered this comet on November 27, 1869, he was later observed by Lewis Swift ( Warner Observatory) on 11 October 1880. After 1908, the comet was not seen and was considered lost. On 7 December 2001, the comet was rediscovered in the context of the project LINEAR, but was at perihelion in 2008 due to large perihelion not be observed.
