11th Berlin International Film Festival
The International Film Festival Berlin 1961 took place until July 4, 1961 by June 23.
Although the Berlinale program was artistically high-caliber, was responsible for the greatest attention, the American actress Jayne Mansfield as a guest of the Berlinale. That was in the German press also more on the bosom Berlinale 's speech because of a festival of film art. From the approaching Berlin crisis with the height of the Berlin Wall was built in August and the simultaneous occurrence of a film festival with films from 46 countries were reported by the German press rather little.

International Jury
Jury President was the Briton James Quinn. He stood in front of the following judges: Falk Harnack ( Germany ), Hirotsugu Ozaki (Japan), Nicholas Ray (USA), Satyajit Ray (India), France Roche ( France ), Hans Schaarwächter ( Germany ) and Marc Turfkruyer (Belgium ).
