  • August 8: Pierre de Maricourt (? , Teachers ' () by Roger Bacon) describes in a letter entitled Epistola Petri Peregrini Maricurtensis de magnets perpetual motion on a magnetic basis. The letter is also considered the first based on experimental investigations treatise on terrestrial magnetism.

Economy and culture

  • The term, watchmakers ' appeared first documented in a beer on account of the Cistercian monastery of Beaulieu.

Religion

  • At the General Chapter of the Dominicans in Paris, the decision is already being collected, divide the German province of Teutonia (in fact the separation is only 1303).
  • Thomas Aquinas is given a second appeal to one of the two chairs of non-French at the University of Paris ( until 1272 ).
