( 1618) Dawn is an asteroid of the main belt, which was discovered on July 5, 1948 by E. L. Johnson, from the Union Observatory in Johannesburg.

The asteroid is a member of the Koronis family, a group of asteroids that is named after (158 ) Koronis. The timeless ( nichtoskulierenden ) orbital elements of ( 1618) Dawn are almost identical to those of the smaller, if we start from the absolute brightness of 14.5 compared to 11.50, asteroid ( 13765 ) Nansmith.

( 1618) Dawn was named after the granddaughter of the explorer.
