1938 U.S. National Championships – Men's Singles
In the men's singles of the U.S. National Championships in 1938, today's U.S. Open, the American Don Budge defeated his compatriot Gene Mako in the final in four sets. Budge came with the victory as the first player ever to a Grand Slam, winning all four of the Grand Slam tournaments in a calendar year. The championship was played on grass in Forest Hills, New York City ( NY), and was held for the 58th time.
