1971–72 French Rugby Union Championship

The 1971/72 season was the 73rd staging of the French rugby union championship. It included 64 teams in the top league ( of today's top 14).

The championship was divided into two phases. It began with the group phase in which eight teams played in eight groups against each other. The four winners of each group moved into the K - o.Runde. This was followed by sixteenth, eighth, quarter and semi-finals. In the final game, which was held in Lyon on 21 May 1972 at the Stade Gerland, clashed the two semi-final winners and played for the Bouclier de Brennus. Here, the AS Béziers won against the CA Brive and won for the third time the championship.
