For Court it was the 10th Grand Slam success at the Australian Open and her 21 Grand Slam title of her career. After a bye in the first round, Court won in the second round against Patricia Coleman 6-1, 6-1. In the quarterfinals, she beat the set at position # 8 Helen Gourlay 6-4, and 6-0. In the semifinals she kept her dominance and won in two straight sets 6-0 and 6-3 against Lesley Hunt. Only in the final they met with more resistance, which could win against Evonne Goolagong with 2:6, 7:6 and 7:5.
