1991 (EP)

1991 is the title of the first EP of the U.S. rapper Azealia Banks.

Background

Banks used the video portal Youtube to publish first demo tracks on the internet, including Seventeen, one produced by Diplo Ladytron sample, L8R and Slow Hands, a cover of the same song by Interpol. In September 2011 she turned 212 on their channel, Lazy Jay Float My Boat is sampling. 212 has been to some great media attention; it was invariably positive response and appeared in various music media in the years leaderboard. After she was put under contract at Interscope, 212 was officially released in December 2011 as the lead single of their future albums.

In spring 2012 Banks published with Needsumluv Bambi and more music on the Internet and also announced the title of their debut album ( Broke With Expensive Taste ) on.

Formation

Banks spoke first in February 2012 of plans to release an EP. This was originally supposed to include 212 songs and Liquorice, as well as remixes of the songs. The end of March they announced the release of the EP in 1991, the new tracks in 1991 and Grand Prix, which did not make it to the final track list included. In early May, they unveiled track list and cover illustration of the EP.

The EP was originally scheduled for April 17, 2012, but moved the Banks management, so that the digital edition at the end of May, the physical has been postponed to early June.

Critics votes

The reviews of 1991 fell were positive. At Metacritic, the EP reached an average of 84 %, which stands for " universal acclaim " (translated: consistent critical acclaim ) is.
