1996–97 WPHL season
The 1996/97 season was the first regular season of the Western Professional Hockey League. The six teams completed in the regular season of 64 matches. The point of best team in the regular season were the New Mexico Scorpions, while the El Paso Buzzards won the President's Cup in the play- offs for the first time.
