  • April 11 - Francis Durbridge, British novelist and screenwriter died aged 85 in London. He was known especially for the radio drama series about the detectives Paul Temple and the multi-part TV films such as The scarf and Tim Frazer, who coined the term street sweeper early 1960s.

  • November 28 - Hans Mohl, long-time moderator of the health magazine practice, died shortly before his 70th birthday from cancer.
