2000–01 French Rugby Union Championship
The 2000/01 season was the 102nd staging of the French rugby union championship. It included 21 teams in the top league Division 1 and twelve teams in the second highest league Pro D2.

Division 1
The regular season Division 1 began with a placement round, eleven or ten teams clashed in a forward and reverse turn. In each case, the top four qualified for the quarter-finals. In the semi-finals took place on June 9, 2001 at the Stade de France final of the Bouclier de Brennus. Stade Toulousain This won against AS Montferrandaise and thus won for the 16th time the championship.
At the end of the season went from six teams in the Pro D2, since the top league was reduced to 16 teams. The regular season the first time this year carried out per game D2 took 22 days (one forward and reverse round). The four highest-ranked teams contested a playoff is the only promotion place, consisting of semi-finals and finals. The U.S. Montauban prevailed in the final against RC Toulon and rose.
