2002 European Women's Handball Championship
The 5th European Handball Championship of Women was held until December 15, 2002 in Denmark of 6. The title was won the team from Denmark, who prevailed in the final against Norway. Germany finished in eleventh place, Austria ninth.

The matches of the European Championship were held in the following three places:
Preliminary round
The first three of each group reached the main round.
Group A
All matches of group A were held in Helsinge.
Group B
Hosted the games in Group B was Aarhus.
Group C
The Group C matches were held in Farum.
Group D
The Group D games were held in Aarhus.
Main Round
The main round matches were held in Aarhus and in Farum. Out of the twelve teams from the preliminary round, two groups were formed. In group I played the first three of the groups A and B, in group II, the first three of the groups C and D. The points were taken from the first round that has been made against the other teams who had also reached the main round. Both first and second- placed teams from the groups were advancing to the semifinals. The third of the two groups played from the 5th place, the fourth-placed the 7th Place.

Aarhus was a venue for the group I.
Group II
Group II played in Farum.
Final round
The games of the final round were held in Aarhus.
