2008 COSAFA Cup
The twelfth edition of the COSAFA Cup took place in 2008 for the first time under its new name COSAFA Senior Challenge from July 26 to August 3, 2008 in South Africa instead. Eight teams from the South African space played for the title of South Africa champion. South Africa won his third title. The first round took place from 19 to 24 July in South Africa instead.
Angola joined with a U-20 national team. South Africa opted for a ' Development XI " team. The games both teams were therefore not counted in the FIFA world rankings.

Game Mode
The 6 of the 14 participating countries, who held the highest positions in the FIFA world rankings in April 2008, were automatically qualified for the finals. This was true: Angola, Zambia, South Africa, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Botswana. The remaining eight participants played in the qualifiers in two groups of four teams against each other. The winners of the group stage qualify for the tournament. The final round was played in k.O system.

Group A
The matches of Group A from 19 to 23 July 2008 at Atlantic Stadium in Emalahleni held in South Africa.
Group B
The matches of Group B took place from 20th to 24th July 2007 at the Lilian Ngoyi Stadium in Secunda in South Africa instead.
Finals
Quarterfinals
The quarter-finals were held in Atlantic Stadium in Emalahleni on 26 July and Lilian Ngoyi Stadium in Secunda on 27 July instead.
Semifinal
The semi-finals were held in Bushbuckridge in Thulamahashe Stadium.
3rd Place Match
The 3rd place match took place on 3 August at Thulamahashe Stadium in Bushbuckridge instead.
