2009–10 Top 14 season

The 2009/10 season was the 111th staging of the French rugby union championship. It included 14 teams in the top league top 14 and 16 teams in the second highest league Pro D2.

Top 14

The regular season of the top 14 had 26 game days (one forward and reverse round). It began on 14 August 2009 and lasted until April 25, 2010. The top two teams qualified directly for the semifinals and met the winners of the Barragespiele, which were held between the third - to sixth-placed. The semi-final winners met 29 May 2010 on one another in the final and played in the Stade de France for the championship trophy Bouclier de Brennus. Here, the ASM Clermont Auvergne won against the USA Perpignan and was after ten failed attempts for the first time win the championship title.

The last- placed team, the SC Albi, had to descend into the Pro D2. The U.S. Montauban received no professional license due to financial problems and was zwangsrelegiert in the Fédérale 1, whereby the poor binned Aviron Bayonnais escaped relegation.

Pro D2

The regular season of the Pro D2 comprised 30 game days (one forward and reverse round). She started 29 August 2009 and lasted until May 9, 2010. Highest placed team that SU Agen, rose directly. The teams ranked 2-5 denied a playoff for the second promotion place, the Atlantique Stade Rochelais be able to secure on May 23, 2010. The SC Albi dismounted in the amateur league Fédérale 1. Since the U.S. Montauban was relegated from the top 14 directly in the Fédérale 1, accounted for a descent place in the Pro D2 and the Pays d' Aix RC thus escaped relegation.
