The Brazilian Grand Prix 2010 took place on November 7 at the Autódromo José Carlos Pace in São Paulo place and was the 18th race of the Formula 1 2010 season.

Background
After the Grand Prix of Korea Fernando Alonso led the drivers' championship with eleven points ahead of Mark Webber and 21 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton. Red Bull -Renault resulted in the constructors' championship with 27 points ahead of McLaren -Mercedes and with 52 points ahead of Ferrari.
HRT -Cosworth replaced, as did during the Singapore Grand Prix, Sakon Yamamoto by Christian Klien.
With Michael Schumacher ( four times ), Felipe Massa (twice) and Webber ( once) were three former winners of this Grand Prix.
Training
In the first practice session on Friday Sebastian Vettel posted the fastest lap in front of his team-mate Webber and Hamilton. With Virgin -Cosworth Jérôme D' Ambrosio took over for this training the cockpit of Lucas di Grassi. In the second free practice Vettel held the lead ahead of Webber. Alonso was third. The third free practice session was held in wet track conditions. First, the pilots rain tires used, the end of the training the pilots went on intermediates. Robert Kubica coped best with the track conditions and achieved the fastest lap. Vettel was second ahead of Hamilton.
Qualifying
The qualifying took place in wet conditions. In the first segment, the pilots used Intermediatereifen. Alonso achieved under these conditions the fastest lap. The HRT, Virgin and Lotus pilots and Adrian Sutil dropped out. In the second qualifying session, where the rain had stopped, Webber took the lead position. The Sauber and Toro Rosso Vitantonio Liuzzi and pilots, Nico Rosberg and Jenson Button retired from. Following an attempt on Intermediatereifen the pilots changed in the third section on dry tires. Nico Hulkenberg coped best with the conditions and scored the pole position with over a second ahead of second-placed Vettel. Webber was third. It was the first pole position in Hülkenberg's Formula 1 career.
Race
Hulkenberg, who first started the race from pole position, had already lost the lead at the start and was overtaken by Vettel. A little later, even Vettel's team-mate Webber to drive past Hulkenberg. In the second round Alonso first tried to drive past Hamilton in front of the Senna -S, but this first still retained the lead. After Klien started the race with three laps late, Alonso made pressure on the third-placed Hulkenberg. The phase of the first pit stops started by button. Finally, Vettel won the race ahead of Webber and Alonso. Hamilton was fifth ahead of Button. So Alonso kept the lead in the drivers' world championship ahead of Webber and Vettel. In addition to the three pilots Hamilton was the only pilot who also kept a shot at the world title. The Red Bull drivers waived at the end of the race, as announced at a position exchange, which would have brought Webber better chance of winning the title. For Button was clear after the race that he could not defend his title this season. The other points were awarded to Rosberg, Schumacher, Hulkenberg, Kubica and Kobayashi.
