Liuzzi has been restored after qualifying five places on the grid. The Italians had impeded its faster round, although it had been shown blue flags Hulkenberg.

Red Bull Racing came after qualifying again at a team interen dispute, as Webber found himself at a disadvantage compared to Vettel after he had to leave his front wing to Vettel, whose copy was damaged in training. The team had brought only two front wings of this specification.

Race

At the start of the Grand Prix of Great Britain, which had 120,000 viewers completely sold out, the second-placed Red Bull - Renault driver Webber won against his starting from the pole position teammate Vettel. Vettel took second place by the first corner and was in the Copse of Hamilton, who was in third place, touched. This Vettel suffered a puncture on the right rear, which, manifested itself in the Beckett in which he drove straight on. Webber led the field in front of Hamilton, Kubica and Nico Rosberg. Alonso had starting from third on a bad start and lost some positions. Caused a stir a position battle with his team-mate Felipe Massa, who also suffered a puncture after contact with Alonso. After the first round, the Spaniard finished fifth.

Massa and Vettel had with their tires damage to switch to the box and fell back to the end of the field, where Massa was relatively quick drive past the drivers of the new teams, while Vettel, who had to complete almost a complete lap with a puncture, have a residue had more than one minute. A particularly good start had world champion Button, who had driven up from 14th to eighth. At the top Webber sat down slightly from Hamilton and from both pilots broke away from the rest of the field. The reason for this separation was the third-placed driver Kubica, behind which is a longer chain of pilots formed. Rosberg, who was right behind him, was unable to overtake him.

After Virgin driver Lucas di Grassi had failed with hydraulic problems, Schumacher opened the phase of pit stops. As his direct rival, Kobayashi, one lap later came to the pits, he did not benefit from this tactic. More success was Schumacher's Mercedes team-mate Rosberg, who opted for a later pit stop and that passed by Kubica.

Behind Rosberg led to a duel between Kubica and Alonso. After the Ferrari driver Kubica had attacked several times, he attacked Kubica at the exit of the Stowe and lay before the Vale of him. However, the Renault driver Alonso defended his position and pressed on the meadow. Alonso slashed it from the track and went so past Kubica. After there was no message from the race director a few rounds and Kubica had retired with a broken drive shaft, decided the race stewards, one of which was at this Grand Prix Nigel Mansell to impose a drive-through penalty for Alonso. About the legality of the penalty after the race there were different views of former Formula 1 racers. While David Coulthard and Marc Surer felt the punishment is unjustified, Nick Heidfeld took the view that the race stewards have made the right decision.

Alonso lost because of the punishment many items, since shortly after the sentence was imposed, a Safety Car period was necessary because Pedro de la Rosa had lost a part of his rear wing and portions were on the road. De la Rosa had to abandon the race then. Alonso could thus complete his sentence until after the Safety Car period and was then the last pilot on the lead lap. For Webber, the Safety Car period was inconvenient because he so lost his lead. His team-mate Vettel profited, however, by the safety car phase, because he again received the connection to the driver in front of him.

While Webber pulled away over again after the safety car period, Vettel made in the middle of some positions well and he improved after five overtaking maneuvers to seventh place. Most Recent Least took his last battle against his compatriot Adrian Sutil. The Ferrari driver suffered both in the final stages of the race in position battles a puncture and had to complete an additional pit stop. With the new tires, however it succeeded in the table of fastest laps led by Alonso to take the first two places.

After Alguersuari had failed eight laps to go with a brake failure, Webber secured his third win of the season ahead of Hamilton and Rosberg. After driving across the finish line, Webber radioed his team boss Christian Horner the remark "not bad for a number two driver" ( " Not bad for a number two driver " ) to and played on the team-internal differences ahead of the Grand Prix at. A few days after the race, he apologized for his remarks during the Grand Prix. Button, Barrichello, Kobayashi, who scored the best ever placement for Sauber this season, Vettel, Sutil, Schumacher and Hulkenberg completed the points.

In the drivers' world championship Hamilton retained the top position and increased the lead over second-placed button on. Webber took the third place of his teammate Vettel. In the Constructors McLaren -Mercedes retained the top position ahead of Red Bull-Renault and Ferrari.
