The Grand Prix of Germany on 25 July 2010 took place at the Hockenheimring Baden- Württemberg in Hockenheim and was the eleventh race of the Formula 1 2010 season.

Background
After the Grand Prix of Great Britain Lewis Hamilton led the drivers' standings with twelve points ahead of Jenson Button and 17 points ahead of Mark Webber. McLaren -Mercedes resulted in the constructors' championship with 29 points ahead of Red Bull-Renault with 113 points ahead of Ferrari.
Fernando Alonso denied the Grand Prix of Germany his 150th Grand Prix.
With Michael Schumacher ( four times ), Rubens Barrichello, Alonso, Hamilton and Webber ( once each ) were five former winners of this Grand Prix.
While Bruno Senna, who was replaced at the Grand Prix of Great Britain from Sakon Yamamoto, returned to his cockpit, had passed Karun Chandhok HRT cockpit to be Yamamoto.
Training
The first free practice took place under rainy conditions. While the driver used rain tires in the beginning, they changed towards the end of training on intermediate tires. The best Adrian Sutil got along with these conditions, and he scored with more than one second ahead of the fastest lap time ahead of Felipe Massa and Button. Fairuz Fauzy took part in this training for Lotus in place of Heikki Kovalainen. In the second session, in which the driver to drive with slicks, Alonso placed in front of Sebastian Vettel and his teammate Massa at the top of the field.

Qualifying

Race
At the start of the Grand Prix of Germany Vettel got away not good. He focused on the duel with Alonso and overlooked the fact that Massa with a better start filed past the two. In addition, Vettel lost the duel against Alonso and finished behind the two Ferrari drivers for third place. In the Parabolika Hamilton Webber overtook and improved to fourth place.
Due to collisions, the Force India and Toro Rosso drivers had after the first round of repair work on the box. For Sébastien Buemi, however, the race was stopped due to the severity of that harm. The two Toro Rosso drivers collided team internally in the hairpin. After three rounds, had to Jarno Trulli, whose race car had transmission problems, give up.
While Massa asserted against Alonso and Vettel, both Force India drivers had to pit again. In Sutil a second stop was necessary because his pit crew had accidentally mounted three hard and soft tires at the first stop. In the twelfth round Vettel started with the pit stops. One lap later, Alonso and Massa a lap later also came to the pits. However, did not change the order between the three pilots. While Massa, Alonso was faster than with the soft tires, which he had driven at the start, he managed to get away with the hard tires no longer of Alonso. Alonso tried the Brazilians to come by, but never made it over. After Button had been in the box, the two Ferrari went back in front. After Alonso said on pit radio that he found the situation laughable, the distance between the two drivers increased to several seconds. After 48 laps Massa's race engineer told him that Fernando was and asked him if he had understood that message faster than him. While Lucas di Grassi had fallen out with a suspension failure and Kovalainen was forced to retire after a contact with Pedro de la Rosa, Alonso was able to solve at the top of Massa and drove several fastest laps. Although Vettel closed on Massa but was unable to overtake him.
Finally, Alonso won the race ahead of Massa and Vettel. It was the second victory of Alonso this season. Behind the first three pilots Hamilton, Button and Webber finished the race. The other points were awarded to Kubica, Nico Rosberg, Schumacher and Petrov.
In the world championship Hamilton maintained the lead ahead of Button and McLaren Mercedes retained the top position in the Constructors' Championship.
After the race there was some discussion about the place of exchange Ferrari driver, who was classified as prohibited team orders. The race stewards saw the situation similarly and punished for crimes of Ferrari team orders to a fine of U.S. $ 100,000. In addition, the World Motor Sport Council of the FIA in early September has been dealing with the exchange of positions. Additional sanctions were resolved.
