2011–12 Top 14 season

The 2011/12 season was the 113th staging of the French rugby union championship. It included 14 teams in the top league top 14 and 16 teams in the second highest league Pro D2.

Top 14

The regular season of the top 14 had 26 game days (one forward and reverse round). It began on 26 August 2011 and lasted until 13 May 2012., The top two teams qualified directly for the semifinals and met the winners of the Barragespiele, which were held between the third - to sixth-placed. The semi-final winners met on June 9, 2012 to each other in the final and played in the Stade de France for the championship trophy Bouclier de Brennus. Here, Stade Toulousain defending champion prevailed against RC Toulon and won for the 19th time the championship. The two last-place teams, the CA Brive Lyon Olympique Universitaire and had to descend into the Pro D2.

  • 5 points for a forfeit victory
  • 4 points for a win
  • 2 points for a draw
  • 0 points for a loss (before possible bonus points )
  • -2 Points for a forfeit defeat

  • 1 bonus point for a loss by fewer than seven points difference

Pro D2

The regular season of the Pro D2 comprised 30 game days (one forward and reverse round). They began on 3 September 2011 and lasted until 12 May 2012. The best-placed team, FC Grenoble, rose directly. The teams ranked 2-5 denied a playoff for the second promotion place, to be able to secure Stade Montois on May 27, 2012. Two teams had to dismount in the amateur league Fédérale 1, the U.S. Colomiers and CA Saint- Étienne. The last place CA Périgueux dismounted in the amateur league Fédérale 1, as the ninth -placed CS Bourgoin- Jallieu, which received no professional license for financial reasons.
