2011 Champions League Twenty20

The Champions League Twenty20 2011 was an international Twenty20 cricket competition, played between clubs from Australia, England, India, South Africa, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and the West Indies. It was the third edition of the tournament and took place between 23 September and 9 October 2011 in India instead. The winner was the team the Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore defeated the in the final with 31 runs.

Participant

The participants qualified their national Twenty20 Championships. The tournament is divided into a skill and a main round. In qualifying the champion from England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka and the West Indies, as well as the Second of England, and the fourth from India compete. These are:

Originally also Eden Gardens in Kolkata was planned, but had to be withdrawn on 20 September 2011 due to heavy rains in the run-up to the Games.

Format

In the qualifying round, two groups will be played with three teams in which everyone plays against everyone. The two group winners and the best runners-up will qualify for the main round. The specially qualified ten teams are in turn divided into two groups in which everyone plays against everyone. The thus determined group winners and runners- then qualify for the semifinals, whose two winners then contest the final.
