Background
After the Grand Prix of Germany Sebastian Vettel led the drivers' championship with 77 points ahead of Mark Webber and 82 points ahead of Lewis Hamilton. Red Bull -Renault resulted in the constructors' championship with 112 points ahead of McLaren -Mercedes with 163 points ahead of Ferrari.
At the Hungarian Grand Prix put Pirelli riders the soft tire compounds (yellow) and Super Soft ( red), as well as for wet conditions Intermediates (light blue ) and Full - Wets (orange ) are available.

Qualifying
In the first phase of qualifying Alonso posted the fastest lap. The Virgin, HRT and Lotus and Sebastien Buemi pilots dropped out. In the second segment Alonso kept the first position. The Williams and Renault driver and Jaime Alguersuari, Kamui Kobayashi and Paul di Resta dropped out. In the final segment, finally drove the fastest lap and Vettel scored his eighth pole position of the season ahead of Hamilton and Button.
Buemi has been reset to five positions, since he had caused the last Grand Prix in a collision with Nick Heidfeld.
Race
Button won the Grand Prix ahead of Vettel and Alonso. It was Buttons 200th Grand Prix start.
The race was marked by changing weather conditions. At the start of the track was that drivers started on intermediates so wet. Then the track dried and the driver switched to slicks. In the second half of the race there was another rain shower, but brought a change to intermediates at this stage no advantage.
Hamilton, who scored the most laps led, turned in the lead, started in the second half of the race to a wrong strategy and had to do a drive-through penalty. He finally came in fourth place finish.
