The 20th stage of the Tour de France 2011 on July 23rd was the only individual time trial of the Tour de France. It resulted in about 42.5 km and hilly terrain around Grenoble. There were three intermediate time checks at kilometer 15 and at 27.5 and 37.5.

Race course

Fabio Sabatini, Last overall, opened the race. It was, however, Danny Pate, who arrived first at the finish, after he and Andrey Amador had overtaken on the individual time trial Sabatini, and the first reference time aufstellte. Although Maciej Bodnar undercutting the first two split times of Pate, however, was the last split and the target behind him. The next best time delivered Lieuwe Westra. Behind Cancellara to Kristjan Koren and Adriano Malori arranged one. When the rain stopped and the track dried out again, made ​​it one after Richie Porte and Thomas De Gendt to beat Cancellara's best. Edvald Boasson Hagen reached only at the first split time measurement, a new personal best, but subsequently fell due to a wheel change back. The best time of De Gendt was significantly undercut later by Tony Martin. He went the distance in a time of 55:34 minutes, which should no longer be offered to the end and so gereichte him to victory.

Now it was about the victory tour: Cadel Evans, in front of the stage, third overall, took the last started Andy Schleck second by second and came with a gap of just seven seconds on Martin to the finish. The third place of the stage reached last year's winner Alberto Contador, who was slower than Evans for a brief minute. Andy Schleck finally came up with a gap of 2:38 minutes on the day's winner and by 2:31 minutes on Evans to the finish, thus transformed his lead of 57 seconds in a backlog of 1:34 minutes. In the young Pierre Rolland rating defended the white jersey in front of net Taaramäe, on which he lost 47 seconds and then 46 seconds ahead saved.
