Format
In four preliminary round groups of four teams played against each, with one win, two points, a draw or a no result earned a point. It qualified respectively top two teams for the quarter finals and the two bottom-placed for the consolation round. The winners of the quarter-final qualified for the semifinals, which then determined the finalists. It all seats were played, so that a total of 48 games were held.
