2013 Giro d'Italia

The 96th Giro d' Italia was held from May 26, 2013 from 4. The tour started in Naples and ended after 21 stages is not as common in Milan, but in Brescia. Participant

Eligible were the 19 ProTeam. In addition, the organizer RCS Sport wild cards awarded to four Professional Continental team. By a dispensation of the World Association UCI, the upper limit of 200 riders could be exceeded in road racing. Each team went with nine riders at the start. Favorites

The favorites for overall victory were the winners of last year's Ryder Hesjedal (GRS), last year's winner of the Tour de France, Bradley Wiggins ( SKY) and this year's winner of Tirreno- Adriatico Vincenzo Nibali (AST ). Stages

Original planning

After starting on a round course in Naples there will be a team time trial on Ischia. First Week

The first stage in Naples was won by Briton Mark Cavendish ( OPQ ). Behind him followed the Italian Elia Viviani (CAN) and the French champions Nacer Bouhanni (FDJ ). UCI World Tour

The Giro d' Italia is the 15th of 28 races in the UCI World Tour 2013 points for the overall standings were awarded as follows.:
