29P/Schwassmann–Wachmann

The comet called 29P/Schwassmann-Wachmann, also Schwassmann - guard 1, was discovered on November 15, 1925 by Arnold Schwassmann and Arthur Arno security guard at the Hamburg Observatory in Bergedorf photographically at 13th magnitude. In 1931, they found the comet also on old recordings from March 4, 1902 at 12th magnitude.

From the comet is currently believed that he belongs to the family of centaurs, of their group are known 45 properties. These bodies are small and icy with an orbit in the Solar System between Jupiter and Neptune. Astronomers suspect that the centaurs are bodies that have escaped from the Kuiper belt.

The dust and gas of the comet come from the same original material from which the sun and planets were formed billions of years ago.
