(32605) Lucy

( 32605 ) Lucy is an asteroid of the outer main belt, which was discovered on 23 August 2001 by the Canadian astronomers William Kwong Yu Yeung Hong Kong origin at the Desert Eagle Observatory near Benson, Arizona ( IAU code 333).

Unconfirmed sightings of the asteroid it had previously been several: on 19 and 26 April 1979 ( 1979 HN) at Cerro Tololo Inter- American Observatory in Chile, on 9 and 13 October 1996 ( 1996 TU8 ) at the Haleakala Observatory on Maui the projects Near Earth Asteroid Tracking and Ground-based Electro- Optical Deep Space Surveillance ( GEODSS ) and on 10 and 13 February 1999 ( 1999 CV39 ) at the Lincoln Laboratory experimental Test system in Socorro, New Mexico.

( 32605 ) Lucy was named after Lucy on 18 June 2008, one in 1974 in the Afar Triangle discovered probably about 3.2 million years old partial skeleton of Australopithecus afarensis.
