33rd Berlin International Film Festival

The International Film Festival Berlin 1983 took place March 1, 1983 by 18 February.

At the beginning of the festival which had died the previous year, Rainer Werner Fassbinder was thought. His film composer Peer Raben brought a suite with the music to the films of the director for the performance. Jeanne Moreau, who was President of the Jury at the same time, sang her song from the film Querelle. The opening film of the festival was the comedy Tootsie Sydney Pollack with Dustin Hoffman in the title role. The film was shown out of competition.

International Jury

President of the Jury was French actress Jeanne Moreau. She stood in front of the following judges: Alex Banninger ( Switzerland ), Franco Brusati (Italy ), Elem Klimov (USSR), Ursula Ludwig ( Germany ), Kurt Maetzig (DDR ), Joseph L. Mankiewicz (USA ), Franz Seitz ( Germany ) and Zongjiang Huang (China).
