8 Foot Sativa

8 Foot Sativa (also 8 Foot ) is a metal band from Auckland, New Zealand.

Band History

Brent Fox and Gary Smith, both metal fans, already knew each other from the Massey High School in Auckland, when they decided to form a band. Together with Peter "Speed ​​" Young on drums, Russell as a singer and " Fat " Dave on bass, they played in their early days covers of Pantera, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Sepultura, Metallica and Slayer. Since Dave often did not appear to the samples, Brent Fox switched from guitar to bass. Russell was his pop band importantly, why he went. In this formation they recorded their first album - Hate Made Me, which was released on March 3, 2002 in New Zealand. It debuted at # 43 of the New Zealand album charts and has now reached gold status. The resulting decoupled Single 8 Foot Sativa was for eight weeks at No. 1 on the Top 12 list of TV music channel M2 and stayed for seven months in these charts, including five months in the Top 3 Shortly after leaving Peter Young due to musical differences, the band and was replaced by Sam Sheppard.

On 14 July 2003, the second album Season for Assault, which debuted at number 6 of the album charts and # 1 on the Indie Chart was published. Two weeks before the band for the recording of their third album flew to Sweden, Niessen got out. Two days later, however, a new singer was in Matt Sheppard, the brother of drummer Sam Sheppard found. With their new singer they recorded in Studio Underground in Sweden 's third album Breed the Pain on. His girlfriend completed the artwork for it. In early 2005 it was released. However, after Breed the Pain tour the Sheppard brothers left 8 Foot back to her own band Sinate to reactivate again. For four New Zealand concerts in September 2005, therefore, Niessen took over again the microphone. Was complemented the band at this time of Corey Friedlander on drums and William Cleverdon on guitar.

In 2006, the band carousel turned on or how they even called it " ... the line -up changes from hell " (Eng. ... Line - up change from hell ). Ben Read of the New Zealand death metal band Ulcerate became the new singer with whom you flew back to Sweden from Underground Studio. Shortly after the shooting left William Cleverdon the band, but returned back in mid-2006 as second guitarist. Friedlander was because of personal reasons and in order to devote more of his other band Final Eve. Jamie Saint Merat, who also played at Goodreads other band Ulcerate, came as a replacement for him to 8 Foot. In October 2006 Brent Fox got out because it made it not fun anymore. He was replaced by Rommilly Smith. But that was not the end of the line-up changes. In January 2007, William Cleverdon was because of pain in his left wrist to the doctor, where it was determined that a bone in his forearm was much shorter than the other. This required several surgeries and a long rehabilitation, which is why he could no longer work for the band. Christian Humpreys from Smith's other band NewWayHome replaced him.

All that and more problems delayed the release of the next album Poison of Ages. It was finally published on 21 May 2007.
