Aardman Animations
Aardman Animations Ltd. is a British production company for animated films based in Bristol, specializing in the Claymation area.
History
Aardman was founded in the 1970s as a "backyard project " by Peter Lord and David Sproxton, Nick Park joined them later. From the park, the famous Wallace & Gromit shorts A Grand Day Out (1989 ), The Wrong Trousers (1993 ) and A Close Shave (1995), the Oscar-nominated (1990 ), and two Academy Awards (1993 and 1995) come Best in the category of animated short film brought in. Together with the short film Creature Comforts (1990 ), in which zoo animals tell about their daily lives, the company has been able to win three awards. Admits became also the music video for Sledgehammer (1986 ) by Peter Gabriel, director was Stephen R. Johnson. The animation is, among others, by Peter Lord and Nick Park.
In 2000 Aardman produced in collaboration with DreamWorks film Chicken Run - Hennen race, which celebrated a huge success. The film was the first solo project from Aardman feature length. Followed in 2005 by Wallace & Gromit: On the hunt for the giant rabbit, who was also honored in 2006 with an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
With Flushed Away, Aardman trod with DreamWorks Animation new terrain: The first computer-animated film, in which the typical character designer, and of course the humor and attention to detail were not forgotten, despite new technology.
With Shaun the Sheep ( Shaun the Sheep) Aardman created a successful animated series with Shaun in the title role, the sheep from A Close Shave. In Germany, the series of public children's channel ( Ki.Ka ) and within the program is broadcast with the mouse.
Aardman places a strong focus on the production of advertising films for various well-known companies, such as FedEx, Nike or Aldi.
