Accra Sports Stadium disaster

With a mass panic in the Accra Sports Stadium (English May Nine Stadium Disaster ) came on 9 May 2001 a total of 126 people in Ghana killed.

Five minutes before the end of the match between Hearts of Oak SC Accra and Kumasi Asante Kotoko began followers of the guests at the score of 2-1 to tear seats out of their fortifications to throw on the field. Subsequently, the police used tear gas and closed the outputs. As a result, there was a mass panic as the crowd tried to leave the stadium. Here, 126 people died and at least 150 others were injured.

As a consequence of the accident to host the Ghana Premier Football League was suspended for a month.
