Adelbert Niemeyer

Adelbert Niemeyer ( born April 15, 1867 in Warburg, † July 21, 1932 in Munich; Complete name: Adelbert Hans Gustav Niemeyer ) was a German painter, architect and craftsman.

Life

Niemeyer studied art first at the 1884-1888 Düsseldorf Art Academy, then in Munich. At a private art school at Friedrich Fehr and finally at the Académie Julian in Paris

He taught from 1907 as a professor at the School of Applied Arts Munich (later State School of Applied Arts ). In this role he was most recently the title of Privy Councillor. He was co-founder in 1907 of both the Deutscher Werkbund and the German Workshops for craftsmanship GmbH, Dresden and Munich. He wrote numerous designs for the porcelain factory Nymphenburg Porzellan Manufaktur Meissen and for Villeroy & Boch; also for Richard Merkel Bach, Hatton of living, and for the Karlsruhe Majolica Factory.

1925 Niemeyer designed the equipment of the publication on the opening ceremony of the Deutsches Museum.

Adelbert Niemeyer was a brother of lawyers and international law expert Theodor Niemeyer.
