Adept Manager
Adept is a package management tool that provides a graphical user interface to the APT package management. It is currently running under the Linux distributions Debian, Ubuntu and Kubuntu. In Kubuntu, it was the default program for package management GUI. Adept but has since been replaced by KPackageKit why the development of Adept was discontinued in late 2008.
Components
Adept Manager
Adept Manager is the main program. It displays a list of all installed or installable software packages. Each package further information can be displayed as author, version number and size. Individual packages or even the entire system can be updated. The sources from which packages can be installed (for example, FTP server or even CDs ), are in the sources.list file in the / etc / apt /.
Adept Notifications
Adept Notifications (English adept notifier ) is a small program that notifies the user of an icon in the notification area on updatable software.
Adept Updater
The Adept Updater (English adept updater ) through the installation of updates: software packages are downloaded and installed using dpkg. Here, the progress is displayed. Alternatively, the text output of dpkg can be displayed.
