Adriana Hölszky

Adriana Hölszky (* June 30, 1953 in Bucharest, Romania ) is a composer and pianist Hungarian- German origin.

Life

In the years 1959-1969 Adriana Hölszky took piano lessons with Olga Roşca - Berdan at the Music High School in Bucharest. In 1972 she began to study composition at Ştefan Niculescu and parallel to a piano studies at the Conservatory in Bucharest. In 1976 she moved with her family to Germany. Here she continued her studies further: 1977-1980 she studied composition at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart with Milko Kelemen, next to piano - Chamber Music with Günter Louegk. During her studies, she has performed as a pianist of Trio Lipatti, with her twin sister Monika Hölszky -Wiedemann and cellist Hertha Pink Herseni.

1977 and 1978 she participated in the International Summer Academy Mozarteum, 1978-1984 regularly attended the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music. In 1980, she received a teaching position at the University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart, in 1983 a grant from the Arts Foundation of Baden- Württemberg. In 1986, she first participated in the Composers' Forum of the Darmstadt Summer Courses for New Music. In 1987 she received a scholarship from the Ministry of Culture of Lower Saxony. In 1992, she participated in composition seminars in Tokyo and Kyoto, and at IRCAM (Paris) in part. The growing international awareness was reflected in three portrait concerts in Athens, Thessaloniki and Boston in 1993. Between 1997 and 2000 Adriana Hölszky was a professor of composition at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Rostock, since 2000 she has been professor of composition at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Since 2002 she is a member of the Academy of Arts in Berlin.
