AEG J.II

The AEG JII was a two-seat, single-engine biplane, which was built in 1917 by AEG for the First World War as a development of JI. From the JI, the machine differed by improvements of the controls and the control surfaces.

After the end of the war, the aircraft was used primarily for freight transport by Deutsche Luft-Reederei (DLR ) from 1919. An enhanced version, the JII K ( K for cabin) was fitted instead of the second seat behind the pilot with a small cabin with windows. A total of about 600 machines of the JI and J.II were built.

As of March 1919, this aircraft was a symbol of a stylized crane DLR.

Specifications

The fuselage and wings were made of a tubular steel frame with wooden frames and a cloth covering.
